Twinkling Star Ashwin: A book released

Mysuru: 28th October 2018, was the first death anniversary of, state and National level physically challenged sportsman of Mysore -N.R Ashwin, who had participated in hundreds of volleyball and cricket matches organised by All India cricket Association of Deaf and Deaf cricket academy of Karnataka,  Family care Coimbatore. On this occasion a book entitled Twinkling Star Ashwin, written by N.V Ramesh was released, in Saint Mathai’s High School Mysore.

While releasing this book Dr. Jayappa Honnali a famous poet of Mysore said, “The author has written this tragic story, with his intestine instead of fingers. This story of tears and toil is a story of a handicapped youth,   who struggled hard to become a volley ball and cricket all round player, captain and coach to handicapped.

A Hemaganga Kannada poetess and culture promoter, exclaimed, “Only those who have pain and sorrow, flourish into an ideal personality, when they struggle hard with their sincere effort for the welfare of disabled and handicapped   24×7, such was the life of Ashwin and his parents, who are really heroes”.

Author of this book and father of Ashwin, N.V. Ramesh elucidated the life, full of pain- struggles and efforts of a family, in rehabilitating a son with hearing loss in both ears, and efforts of that son, who later shined like that sun, who gave light to many handicapped 24×7. S. Venkatakrishnaiah retired Assostant Director Department for welfare of handicapped described “growth of Ashwin’s life as, drops of water which later became an ocean.”

This programme was organised under joint auspices of, N.V Ramesh family, Asakti Prakashana Mysore and Family Care, coimbatore. K. Devamanohari special educator and communication co-ordinator translated all the speeches to sign language for the deaf youth from South India. Uma Ramesh welcomed the gathering and Usha Shekhar rendered a vote of thanks.

An Introduction to the book Twinkling Star Ashwin

This is not only a success star of Ashwin, a physically challenged youth, but also a life guide to physically handicapped and their families. This book gives many details and hints to families with handicapped children. How parents have to observe milestones of progress of their baby; if parents get the doubt that their baby of 9 to 10 months is not responding to sounds, how they have to take their baby to speech and hearing tests special training and coaching with support of medical treatment? How parents can bring up their handicapped child to the mainstream? Here is a life philosophy as to how, with enthusiasm and hard efforts, handicapped can come up in their life.

Similarly, if there is any problem in our organs, how we have to approach medical experts? Are we caring much about food habits of our children? Are we observing their life style? If suddenly our son or daughter has problems of liver or kidney, which steps we have to take?  If Jaundice turns to be a liver problem, if later liver transplantation is to be done, what is the sequence of steps patient and his family has to take? How much will be cost for medical tests and treatment? How much will be hospital and I.C.U charges? What is the legal provision and procedure for liver transplantation? How a family is to be ready to face such tight corner with immediate and urgent financial requirements? To all these questions this book gives firsthand experience story, without any exaggeration. This real story elucidates various facets of liver transplantation.
