Ahmedabad: In an exemplary story of compassion and medical expertise, Cadila Pharmaceuticals, through its charitable arm, the Indrashil Kaka-Ba and Kala Budh Public Charitable Trust, has given a new life to a patient from Tamil Nadu.

The middle-aged patient, Wilson, who hails from Coonoor, was bedridden for over a decade due to infections in both hips and knees and faced severe mobility challenges. This impacted not only his health but also the livelihood of his family.

Wilson’s efforts to get treatment in Tamil Nadu did not materialise due to financial constraints. Fortunately for him, he came in contact with Dr. Bharat Champaneria, a trustee at Indrashil Kaka-Ba and Kala Budh Public Charitable Trust, who was conducting a medical camp as part of Cadila Pharmaceuticals’ CSR initiatives in Tamil Nadu. Recognizing the severity of Wilson’s condition and deeply moved by it, Dr. Champaneria assured him of providing the necessary medical intervention if he was willing to travel to Hansot in Bharuch district.

Sensing a rare opportunity to restore his health and bring an end to his distressing condition, Wilson agreed to make the journey from Tamil Nadu to Kaka Ba Hospital in Hansot. At the hospital, Wilson underwent extensive examinations, leading to successful Total Knee and Hip replacement surgeries. Wilson was able to sand on his own feet and move after several years.

The cost of the surgeries, totalling approximately Rs. 20 lakh, was graciously waived off by Cadila Pharmaceuticals. The company also covered the patient’s travel and other expenses.

Dr. Bharat Champaneria said, “At Indrashil Kaka-Ba and Kala Budh Public Charitable Trust and Cadila Pharmaceuticals, our mission is to extend a helping hand to those in need. Wilson’s case is a perfect example of our commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities. We are happy to have played a role in helping Wilson overcome his ailments and lead a better life.”

After staying for four months at Kaka Ba Hospital, Wilson returned to his hometown with a sense of gratitude and newfound hope. He is now in good health and has also resumed working, marking a remarkable turnaround in his life.
