Portea medical launches chemotherapy at home services for the benefit of cancer patients amidst COVID-19. Portea aims to help those with cancer and the survivors to avoid the risk of hospital-acquired infections and recuperate at home
Recently, 3 cancer patients undergoing treatment at the Delhi State Cancer Institute (DSCI) Hospital tested positive for Covid-19 after having come into contact with infected healthcare workers. This highlights the fact that cancer patients and survivors have a weakened immune system making them vulnerable to a host of other health issues. Cancer is a complex and chronic disease. Many survivors end up with long-term disabilities and require ongoing care and support. A trained and certified chemotherapy nurse will administer the treatment to the patient in the comfort of their homes, while being monitored and supervised by Portea’s fulltime doctors.
The chemotherapy will be administered to the patient as per his/her chemotherapy plan formulated by their treating Oncologist. The service has been priced at par with the hospitals offering similar services. The treating Oncologist’s go ahead will be taken prior to starting the service for their patients. Portea Medical has been undertaking various initiatives during the COVID-19 crisis. The company recently launched a chatbot in association with the Government of Goa to answer people’s queries around the pandemic. Portea also launched its Home Quarantine services to help people undertake a coronavirus test at home and also monitor their health over a 14-day period.
