DXC Bengaluru Walkathon to emphasize on Water Conservation

Bengaluru: The 15th edition of DXC Bengaluru Walkathon to be held at the Kittur Rani Chennamma Stadium in Bengaluru on December 7 aims to create a general awareness of depletion of water levels and conservation of water, which has become the most pressing issues faced in the country today.

The  event, a brain child of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, is one-of-a kind Walkathon that witnesses massive public support and is organized mainly to encourage people across the country to get involved and spread awareness on a common cause aimed at benefitting the society in general. The theme this year “Save Water, Save Life” comes at the right juncture when the country is facing acute shortage of water, mainly owing to the lack of information on methods of conserving water.

The one-day event also commemorates The International Day Of The Persons With Disability. The International observance of the United Nations aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

DXC Technology have come on board as the title sponsor for the mega event which aims to create awareness on the depletion of ground water and the need to conserve water and to sensitize the general public on the ways to conserve water for future generations. It will also dwell on the need to ensure safe discharge of waste water and ensure recycling of grey water and promote the effective ways of water utilization at residential and organizational level.

Speaking to the media correspondents at a press conference here on Monday,  Mr. Mahantesh GK, Founder Managing Trustee of Samarthanam said: “ The 15th edition of the Bengaluru Walkathon which has now become an annual feature where around 10,000 participants extend their support in our effort of bringing about a positive change in the society.Today, we see that many countries are facing water shortage and are on the verge of facing a drought-like situation.
