India is becoming a storehouse of knowledge in the health sector; Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. Hon’ble Governor inaugurated the ‘HepCon’ International Medical Conference organized to raise awareness about the importance of ensuring treatment and protection in situations of liver cancer increasing evidently.
Thiruvananthapuram : India is becoming a Knowledge hub in the health sector said, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. Globally, the health sector is being consolidated under one roof. That the medical conferences held for this purpose will help the health sector of the country to leap forward, he added. He was speaking at the inauguration of ‘HepCon‘, a two-day international medical conference on Liver care and Transplant, organized by the Center for Comprehensive Liver Care, KIMSHEALTH, at Poovar Island Resort recently.
KIMSHEALTH Chairman and Managing Director Dr. MI Sahadulla presided over the event. He said that the medical services should be made accessible to the common people of the country and for that, the government and the private sector should join hands to organize such medical conferences. He said that 40 to 49 percent of diseases in the country are diagnosed late and it will do miracles if it is diagnosed earlier and treated effectively.
The HepCon International Medical Conference aims to raise awareness about the importance of ensuring treatment and protection in situations of liver cancer increasing evidently. About 60 medical experts from inside and outside the country are participating in the conference. The two-day conference held panel discussions and seminars on different topics in seven sessions. Etiology, Pathology, Biology, Imaging and Assessment, Treatment Planning, Transplantation, and topics related to the Liver were discussed.
Dr. Paul Gibbs, Senior consultant at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in England, Dr. Sanjeeva Kalwa, the Chief Interventional Radiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA, and other eminent doctors at the international and national levels are participating in the sessions. Dr. Subhash Gupta delivered the welcome speech. Dr. Shiraz Ahmed Rather welcomed the dais and Dr Shabeerali TU gave the vote of thanks.
