30 year old man donates his heart and saves the life of a 40 year old
Bengaluru: 40 year old man hailing from East Godavari gets a new lease of life as he undergoes heart transplant at M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre– a unit managed by Narayana Health. The donor is a 30 year old man from Krishnagiri. He was riding a two wheeler and was hit by a four wheeler from behind at Gopanahalli on 12th of January 2019. He was declared brain dead and his family had consented for organ donation.
The heart was retrieved at Narayana Health City, Bommasandra and was transported to M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre, Mattikere on January 16, 2019. The heart was transported via green corridor. The distance of 29.5 kms was covered in a span of 45 minutes.
The recipient is a 40 year old tailor from East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh. He was suffering from dilated cardio myopathy. He was on medical management at M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre. After a thorough evaluation by the team of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, the patient was advised a heart transplant and had registered with Jeevasarthakate 5 months ago.
