Soap nut (Reetha) and Shikhakai have been India’s haircare duo for centuries. Put them together in a shampoo and you get a gentle, natural cleanser that works from toddlers to grandparents.
Here’s why:
1. Cleans Without Stripping Soap nut contains saponins — natural surfactants that foam up and lift dirt, oil, and product buildup. Unlike sulphate shampoos, saponins don’t strip the scalp’s natural sebum. That means no dryness, itchiness, or rebound oiliness. Safe for a 3-year-old’s fine hair and 75-year-old’s sensitive scalp.
2. Conditions as It Cleans : Shikhakai is rich in vitamins A, C, D, E, and K, plus antioxidants. It’s called “fruit for the hair” because it detangles and softens while you wash. The low pH of Shikhakai helps seal the hair cuticle, so strands feel smoother and look shinier without needing a separate conditioner. Kids hate long routines, elders need simplicity — this does both.
3. Scalp Health for Every Age : Both herbs have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. They help with dandruff, cradle cap in babies, teenage oily-scalp issues, and adult flakiness. Soap nut is mildly antifungal, while Shikhakai soothes irritation. Together they maintain a balanced scalp microbiome instead of disrupting it.
4. Strengthens from Root to Tip : Shikhakai strengthens hair follicles, reducing hair fall and breakage. Good for postpartum mothers, men with thinning hair, and kids whose hair is still developing. Soap nut’s gentle cleansing prevents buildup that can clog follicles, promoting healthier growth across age groups.
5. No Harsh Chemicals, No Age Restrictions, No sulphates, parabens, silicones, or artificial fragrance. That means no stinging eyes for kids, no hormone disruptors for teens, and no irritation for elderly skin that’s thinned with age. pH is close to the scalp’s natural 5.5, so it won’t trigger eczema or sensitivity. Paediatricians and Ayurvedic doctors often recommend it for the whole family.
6. Eco-Friendly and Cost Effective: Biodegradable ingredients that don’t pollute water. One bottle works for everyone in the house, so you buy less and waste less. Both Reetha and Shikhakai are traditional, renewable forest produce — easy on the planet and the wallet. How to Use It for Different Ages Kids 2-10: Dilute if needed. Massage gently, rinse well. The natural foam won’t sting eyes much, but still keep it out. Teens & Adults: Use 2-3 times a week. Massage into all Ages Kids mins to let saponins work, then rinse. Follow with a light oil only if hair feels too dry initially. Elders: Warm the shampoo slightly for comfort. The mild nature prevents dryness common with age-related scalp changes.

Top 5 Benefits AAVISHJIA’S for All Ages:
100% Gentle Cleansing : Natural saponins clean dirt & oil without sulphates. Won’t sting kids’ eyes or irritate sensitive elderly scalps.
Reduces Hair Fall : Shikhakai strengthens roots and follicles. Helps postpartum moms, men with thinning hair, and growing kids.
Fights Dandruff & Cradle Cap : Both have antifungal + antimicrobial properties. Balances the scalp for teens with oily dandruff and babies with cradle cap.
No More Tangles : Shikhakai is a natural conditioner that detangles as you wash. Saves time for kids and eases combing for elders with dry hair.
Maintains Natural Hair pH : Keeps scalp pH around 5.5. Prevents dryness, frizz, and excess oil production — so it works whether you’re 3 or 75. That combo covers cleaning, strengthening, scalp health, conditioning, and balance. Hard to beat for a one-bottle family solution.
Bottom line:
AAVISHJIA’s Soap Nut + Shikhakai combo gives you cleansing, conditioning, and scalp care in one step. It’s time-tested, non-toxic, and adapts to what each age needs: gentleness for kids, balance for adults, and soothing care for elders.

Millets, the ancient supergrains, are making a strong comeback—especially among health-conscious individuals and fitness enthusiasts. Packed with protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, millets are an excellent alternative to rice and wheat, helping with muscle recovery, sustained energy, and overall wellness.

If you’re into fitness, whether it’s weight training, endurance sports, or general health maintenance, incorporating millets into your diet can give you a natural protein boost. Here’s how you can make the most of these powerhouse grains.

Why Millets Are Great for Fitness Enthusiasts
• High Protein Content – Some millets, like foxtail millet (12%) and finger millet (ragi, 7-10%), provide more protein than rice or wheat.
• Slow-Release Carbs – They have a low glycemic index, keeping energy levels stable during workouts.
• Rich in Amino Acids – Millets contain essential amino acids like leucine, isoleucine, and valine, crucial for muscle repair.
• Gluten-Free & Easily Digestible – Ideal for those with gluten sensitivity or digestive issues.
• Loaded with Iron & Magnesium – Supports oxygen circulation and reduces muscle cramps.

Best Ways to Use Millets for Fitness Goals
1. Pre-Workout Energy Boost: Millet Porridge
A warm bowl of foxtail or little millet porridge with nuts, seeds, and a dash of honey provides slow-digesting carbs and protein for sustained energy.
Recipe:
Cook millet in almond milk.
Add chia seeds, almonds, and a banana.
Sprinkle cinnamon for extra metabolism boost.

2. Post-Workout Recovery: Millet Khichdi with Lentils
Pairing millets with dal (lentils) or quinoa enhances protein absorption, aiding muscle repair.
Recipe:
Cook barnyard millet with moong dal.
Add turmeric, ginger, and veggies for anti-inflammatory benefits.

3. High-Protein Millet Roti (Gluten-Free)
Replace wheat chapatis with ragi (finger millet) or bajra (pearl millet) roti for extra protein and fiber.
Tip: Mix ragi flour with chickpea flour for an even higher protein content.

4. Muscle-Building Millet & Paneer Bowl
For vegetarians, combining millets with paneer (cottage cheese), tofu, or yogurt creates a complete protein meal.
Recipe: Cook kodo millet and top with grilled paneer, roasted veggies, and hummus.

5. Protein-Packed Millet Smoothie
Blend cooked barnyard millet or ragi flour into your post-workout smoothie for added protein and thickness.
Smoothie Recipe:
½ cup cooked millet
1 scoop plant-based protein powder
Spinach, almond butter, and almond milk
Ice cubes

6. Millet-Based Protein Bars (Homemade)
Skip store-bought bars and make your own with jowar (sorghum) or bajra flour, nuts, and dates.
Recipe:
Mix millet flour, peanut butter, honey, and dark chocolate chips.
Bake and cut into bars for a portable snack.

Final Tips for Fitness Lovers Using Millets
• Soak Before Cooking – Reduces phytic acid for better nutrient absorption.
• Combine with Legumes – Enhances protein quality (e.g., millet + lentils).
• Experiment with Different Types – Try foxtail, barnyard, or little millet for variety.
• Monitor Portions – While nutritious, millets are calorie-dense—balance with your macros.

Ready to power up with millets? Start with one recipe today and experience the difference!

Ahmedabad: Stavya Spine Hospital, a renowned leader in exclusive spine care for over two decades, has introduced the Open Standing Weight Bearing MRI(Manufactured by Esaote SpA Italy) to its suite of advanced diagnostic tools. This innovative technology, designed specifically to meet the unique demands of spine diagnostics, enables imaging in standing, sitting and supine positions, offering new dimensions in evaluating spine conditions. The addition of this tool underscores Stavya’s commitment to ethical care, transparency, and advancing patient outcomes.

Transforming Diagnostics with Open Standing MRI
Unlike conventional MRIs, which require patients to lie flat for higher-resolution imaging, the Open Standing Esaote’s MRI allows for weight-bearing assessments of the spine. This machine is particularly suited to dynamic evaluations of conditions such as scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, and spinal instability. For patients with claustrophobia or anxiety about traditional MRI machines, the Open Standing MRI provides a more comfortable and open environment. Additionally, this technology can also be used to image the knee and hip in weight-bearing positions, offering valuable insights into joint health.

Dr. Mirant Dave, Spine Surgeon at Stavya, explained, “Our diagnostic philosophy is rooted in understanding how the spine functions under real-life conditions. The Open Standing Esaote’s MRI helps us evaluate the behavior of the spine under load, which is invaluable when determining whether a condition requires surgical intervention or can be managed conservatively. This is another step in our mission to deliver ethical, evidence-based care.” The Open Standing MRI is an essential tool for conditions where dynamic, functional imaging is critical.

Advanced Spine Care at Stavya
Stavya Spine Hospital has set itself apart as a center of excellence for spine care, combining cutting-edge technology, expert medical professionals, and a patient-first philosophy. As the only hospital in India exclusively dedicated to spine care, Stavya offers a comprehensive range of advanced treatments and diagnostics:
• Robotics in Spine Surgery: Revolutionizing complex procedures with enhanced precision and minimal risk.
• Endoscopic Spine Surgery: Delivering minimally invasive solutions for faster recovery and reduced discomfort.
• German Advanced Physiotherapy: Employing structured, evidence-based rehabilitation techniques for long-term recovery.
These technologies and techniques have been meticulously integrated into Stavya’s framework to provide a holistic approach to spine care. Every patient’s journey—from diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation—is tailored to their specific needs, ensuring optimal outcomes and long-term spine health.

Dr. Bharat Dave, Director and Spine Surgeon, remarked, “At Stavya, we have always prioritized integrating the best of technology, talent, and treatment methods to provide our patients with comprehensive spine care. The Open Standing MRI complements this approach, helping us better understand and treat conditions that require dynamic imaging.”

The Team of Experts at Stavya
Stavya Spine Hospital prides itself on its team of highly skilled spine surgeons and physiotherapists who are dedicated to providing the best care. The surgical team includes:
• Dr. Bharat Dave
• Dr. Mirant Dave
• Dr. Ajay Krishnan
• Dr. Hitesh Modi
• Dr. Shivanand Mayi
• Dr. Raviranjan Rai
• Dr. Mukesh Patel
• Dr. Devanand Degulmadi

Together, this team brings decades of experience and expertise in managing complex spine conditions through advanced surgical techniques and ethical decision-making. The team’s collaborative approach ensures every patient receives the most effective care, whether surgical or conservative.

Stavya also boasts a world-class physiotherapy team, led by Dr. Akruti Dave, that works in close coordination with the surgeons to create comprehensive rehabilitation plans. Their focus is on ensuring patients regain optimal mobility and strength, whether recovering from surgery or managing their condition through conservative means.

Physiotherapy and Spine Health Checkups
Physiotherapy is a cornerstone of spine care, and Stavya emphasizes its role in both surgical and non-surgical treatment plans. Tools like the Open Standing MRI are invaluable for understanding a patient’s functional limitations and tailoring rehabilitation programs accordingly.

Dr. Akruti Dave, Head of Physiotherapy, shared, “Physiotherapy plays a vital role in improving patient outcomes. The Open Standing MRI helps us assess the mechanical and functional aspects of the spine more effectively, which is essential in designing personalized recovery plans. It also enhances our ability to help patients who are pursuing conservative care options.”

In addition to rehabilitation, Stavya has introduced Spine Health Checkups, a comprehensive program aimed at early detection and prevention of spine-related issues. The Open Standing MRI plays a central role in these checkups by offering dynamic imaging that uncovers subtle abnormalities and helps guide proactive treatment.
Dr. Akruti Dave added, “Spine Health Checkups are critical for detecting problems early, especially in individuals with sedentary lifestyles, poor posture, or chronic back pain. Over two-thirds of Indians have Vitamin D deficiency. 90% of doctors, IT professionals are also vitamin D deficient. Giving vitamin D is one way to improve immuno nutrition levels

Despite India being blessed with abundant sunshine throughout the year, vitamin D deficiency is widespread among the population.

Sunlight is a major source of vitamin D and the Indian population is supposed to have adequate levels of the important vitamin. Dr. Kalra said the situation is the exact opposite as most people simply avoid going out in the sun, especially during summers.

The use of air conditioners and sunscreen lotions has gone up in India in the last few years. When the sun protection factor or SPF is above 15, there is no vitamin D absorption by the body. High pollution levels also result in less effective exposure to sunlight.

Widespread vitamin D deficiency can also be attributed to the fact that a majority of the Indian population is vegetarian. Vitamin D deficiency is high even among non-vegetarians as most consuming meat once a week or so is not enough to meet the vitamin D requirement.

Several studies have shown that over two-thirds of Indians are vitamin D deficient. This is similar to the incidence of anaemia or haemoglobin deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency is 90% among doctors. The same with IT professionals.

Women, people living in areas with high pollution levels, people having kidney or liver diseases, and those having skin ailments are especially vulnerable to vitamin D deficiency. Difficulty in squatting, difficulty in getting up from a squatting position, difficulty in bending down, tenderness in bones, and general aches and pains are some of the symptoms of vitamin D deficiency. Another symptom is poor immunity. However, rectifying vitamin D deficiency is economical, efficient, and effective.

Roughly 60,000 units of vitamin D a month suffice. There are sublingual tablets that can be kept under the tongue. Sachets of Calcirol (Cholecalciferol), which can be mixed with water or Jucie are also available.

Vitamin D deficiency – improve immuno nutrition levels

The term hidden hunger refers to a deficiency of micronutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes that are required by the human body, especially in the early stages of child growth and lactating mothers.

Giving vitamin D is one way of improving immuno nutrition levels. It is also important to manage vitamin D levels for improved metabolism and other health benefits.

Dr. Sanjay Kalra
President-Elect of the South Asian Federation of Endocrine Societies (SAFES)

Health Tips for Children to Improve Their Health. Good health is essential for children to develop and grow into healthy adults.

Parents often find themselves asking what more they can do to ensure their kids have good health habits. Fortunately, there are multitude of simple health tips that can be implemented to improve the overall health of kids. This article will provide an overview of some effective and easy-to-implement health tips for children. These suggestions can help create a healthier environment for kids and promote long-term health benefits.

6 Useful Tips to Improve Your Child’s Health

Manage Their Sleep Routines

An adequate amount of sleep will top the list of health tips for kids because your body needs a proper good night’s sleep to manage your overall health. With kids, the sleep requirement varies depending on their age. For example, babies will need at least 16 hours of sleep, while toddlers will require 12 to 14 hours. Kids between the ages of three to 12 will need 10 to 12 hours of sleep, and eight to nine hours are enough for kids older than that.

Make sure you form good sleeping habits, like encouraging your kids to sleep early and wake up early to form a healthy sleeping schedule.

Make Healthy Lifestyle Choices

Our health reflects the choices we make to live our life. Hence, the choices we are going to make to lead our lives will also affect our health in the long term. For example, if you are going to regularly make your child eat junk food or support a sedentary lifestyle for them, it will affect their health.

So, ensure your child is making healthy choices by feeding them nutritious food with essential vitamins, minerals, protein, and other nutrients. Make sure your child participates in extracurricular activities like outdoor sports, art, and other hobbies to maintain healthy physical as well as mental health.

Develop Healthy Personal Hygiene

Another useful tip to improve your child’s health and help them maintain a healthy life is to adopt good personal hygiene. Personal hygiene is an essential aspect of staying healthy, especially for kids.

Developing good personal hygiene habits at an early age can go a long way in preventing the spread of germs and diseases. It plays a key role in protecting kids from illnesses caused by bacteria and viruses in schools, playgrounds, and other public places. Children are more susceptible to getting sick than adults because their immune systems are still developing. By washing their hands frequently with soap and water, using hand sanitizers when necessary, covering their mouth while coughing or sneezing, brushing and flossing, washing hands before eating, after coming from outside and after using the washroom (to keep germs away from the body), rinsing their mouth after eating, and avoiding close contact with people who are sick, kids can minimize their risk of contracting illnesses.

Don’t Forget Their Regular Immunizations

Getting your kids their regular immunizations is one of the most important tips to improve their health and ensure they don’t fall ill frequently. Vaccines are designed to help protect children from various diseases that can cause serious illness or even death.

Following the recommended vaccination schedule, parents can prevent their children from contracting measles, mumps, rubella, and polio.

So, if there are any pending COVID-19 boosters or flu shots that need to be given to your child, make that doctor’s appointment immediately!

Maintain Medical Records

This health tip for kids is not directly related to improving your child’s health but contributes towards maintaining a good overtime. A part of having a child will majorly include you carrying around a bulky file that includes all their medical history – from blood tests and history of allergies to immunization records and lab test reports. But how efficient is this old-school way? Not much, if you think about it.

You are always at risk of losing an important paper or forgetting to file it and eventually not bringing it with you on your next doctor’s visit. A PHR application can help you save your child’s medical history in digital format so you can carry them along whenever needed!

Reduce Their Screen Time

In today’s digital age, kids spend more time in front of screens than ever. While technology has brought many conveniences into our lives, excessive screen time can harm young children’s health and well-being.

Reducing screen time can improve a child’s physical health. Excessive screen use can lead to sedentary behavior and lack of physical activity, which increases the risk of obesity and other related health problems. Children can develop healthier habits that promote physical fitness by encouraging outdoor playtime or engaging in active games that do not involve screens.

Blend Health with Learning

Lastly, As parents, following tips to improve your child’s health is essential. But have you ever thought that teaching your child the importance of staying healthy isn’t always supposed to be boring? Yes, you can add a touch of fun to some health lessons by mixing the two. For example, let your child identify the colours of the vegetables and fruits while eating, or you can teach them how to count when skipping the rope! See, it doesn’t need to be boring after all.

Safe and Affordable Drinking Water Essence of knowing healthy water. In Urban India, 50 Million People in 15 Cities Have no Access to Safe, Affordable Drinking Water: Report. Clear looking water could be deceptive and detrimental to health: warn experts

Healthy drinking water is very important for good health. A safe water supply ensures the health of a country, yet it is woefully under-prioritised, globally. And in India, it’s at the lowest echelon. In urban India, 50 million people in 15 cities have no access to safe, affordable drinking water, reveals a UNICEF, India report. [1]

Healthy drinking water is very important for good health. But unhealthy water that the majority of urban Indians drink to survive due to the lack of knowledge about healthy water is equally detrimental to health. Therefore, it is quintessential for everyone especially who are living in urban India to know whether the water they consume is healthy or not because the sources, it comes from and the way it is treated, determine its purity and safety for consumption. Amid the scarcity of water, it is very important to know about the purity of water available for consumption. It is often seen that people usually check if the water is clear while drinking. If it looks clean, they assume that it is safe to drink. But this is often not the case. Water looking clean might not always be safe for drinking.

Drinking water comes from a variety of sources including public water systems, private wells, or bottled water. However, in urban India, the majority of the population resides in private households wherein privately owned and operated sources of drinking water, such as wells, cisterns, and springs are available. But people hardly know how the water they consume reaches them. How it is contaminated during the treatment and supply stages etc.

The density of population in urban India is quite high and so is the scarcity of safe drinking water. Therefore, the majority of the population consume water from privately owned water sources. In such a situation, knowing the way drinking water reaches them turns very important considering its safety and purity. Usually, due to the hectic schedule, people living in urban India don’t notice the discrepancy in the water pipelines of their own houses, which more often causes water contamination. So, it is obligatory for an individual to have a close eye on its maintenance. There are other sources of contamination that people usually don’t pay heed to such as the water tank placed on their roofs, if not cleaned on regular intervals contaminates the water stored in it.

Also, in urban India, Reverse Osmosis (RO) is one of the most effective water treatment processes being practised and widely used for water purification by the majority of the population. It is generally used for home water treatment to remove salts, chemical toxins, organic contaminants, dyes, pesticides and microbes. In this process, the raw water is forced (with pressure) through a dense membrane filter that prevents the passing of impurities. Although, the Reverse Osmosis process has certain benefits such as it does not produce or use any harmful chemicals, yet water consumed after the treatment through the RO process is devoid of useful minerals. Unless minerals are added back, the RO water could have harmful effects on health. Therefore, it is very important that the water you drink must contain the right minerals to maintain the balance of the body.

In India, access to treated piped water continues to be inadequate for the majority of the population. Water from major sources like tube wells and hand pumps is also found to be unsafe as they are known to be carriers of waterborne diseases. While people blame unhygienic food for most of the ailments, waterborne diseases such as cholera, acute diarrhoeal diseases, typhoid and viral hepatitis have caused 10,738 deaths, over the last five years since 2017. Of this, acute diarrhoeal diseases have caused maximum deaths followed by viral hepatitis, typhoid and cholera. [2]

Test your water regularly for pathogens to ensure that the water you are drinking is safe.

To make our life easy and to impress guests one needs tips. So here are the tips given by well known author and winner of six national awards for outstanding contribution in motivating and inspiring thousands of people

Cooking tips

To prevent breaking of fries and cutlets while frying, add some bread soaked in a little water or milk and then squeezed to dryness for good binding. The same thing can be used in the stuffing for parathas, bhurjis, etc.

Marinating the meat for hour or so in beer tenderizes the meat and enriches the taste.

Fluffier puris can be obtained by mixing a little milk with the dough while kneading.

For ice crystal-free ice-creams, beat the half-frozen ice-cream and refreeze till done. Repeat the process if required.

Make fluffier omlettes by adding gram flour while beating the eggs.

Coating the fish pieces, before frying, with rice flour will prevent the fish from sticking to the pan

Home tips

While painting the house, smear the edges of the windows and glass panes with petroleum jelly to prevent the paint from dripping down that part and leaving awful stains.

Make flowers in a vase stand erect. Fill the vase with water and cover the top with an aluminium foil with holes (using pencils) and pass the stem through that flower.

During summer and dry days arrange the flowers in porcelain or stone vases instead of metal vases for long-lasting freshness in the flower.

Keep the dusty artificial flowers in paper bag with a handful of salt and shake well and get fresh looking flowers again.

Preserve the freshness of certain flowers, burn the ends of the stalks before arranging them in the vase.

Fresh flowers can be made to last longer by adding some charcoal pieces in the water in the vase.

Dye stains on the skin can be easily taken out by rubbing with the incense sick ash and a little water.

Accidental nail chipping can be managed by rubbing the nail against the sides of a matchbox but remembers to wash your hands properly as it is poisonous.

A great space saving idea is to enclose the flush and the geyser in a long stretch cabinet. The in between space can be utilized for keeping cleaning equipments and other detergents.
