Bengaluru, 9th March 2020: SPARSH Hospital, one of the leading hospitals in Bengaluru, organized a Special Initiative Ride to spread awareness of the Suraksha app for women safety and breast cancer. The ride was organised in association with the Bengaluru Traffic Police and Harley Davidson on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The ride was flagged off by Lakshmi Narayan, DCP, Bengaluru starting from SPARSH, Infantry road and it ended at the same place after looping around nearby malls for spreading awareness of the Suraksha App. The event was followed by talks by Lakshmi Narayan, DCP, Bengaluru; Dr. Sharan Patil, Founder & Chairman, SPARSH Hospital and Dr. Jayanti Thumsi, Breast Oncology Specialist, Sparsh Hospital, on spreading awareness of the Suraksha App for the safety of women and breast cancer.

“ A lot of women are unaware of the existence of this app; we want more and more women to download the app for their safety. It will help women in distress to alert police for help, as it is linked to the police control room and patrolling vehicles in the city” said Lakshmi Narayan, DCP, Bengaluru.

Dr. Jayanti Thumsi said, “Breast Cancer is on the rise among women in India. The risk of developing breast cancer can be reduced by focusing on the risk factors that are under your control. With the advancement in the treatment, the number of women surviving cancer is also increasing. General recommendations for women to reduce the risk are-eat more fruits, vegetables and natural food. Exercise regularly”

A woman is the most important part of a family, hence of society. Her health should be a top priority for herself and the others so that there is well- being in the entire family and society. So I request women to download the Suraksha app and spread awareness of the same with friends, family members and colleagues.” Said Dr. Sharan Patil, Founder & Chairman, Sparsh Hospital, Bengaluru.
