Advanced first aid training for trek leaders

Advanced first aid training for trek leaders aimed at improving the emergency handling during any adventurous treks was conducted at Devarayanadurga hill in Tumkur recently.

Tumkur: Managing any kind of medical emergency during an adventurous trek needs certain skills and at the same time it becomes very challenging. Realizing the importance of life saving skills, over 20 trek leaders from Karnataka Hikes underwent a two day Advanced first-aid training, aimed at improving the emergency handling during any adventurous treks.

The two days training which concluded on Monday, March 15, was conducted at Devarayanadurga hill in Tumkur. The training included First aid techniques such as CPR, AED, Patient handling, and High-altitude emergency response. The training was provided by VMEDO, a reputed training institution which has trained several thousand people in the past three years across Karnataka.

Karnataka Hikes is one of the premier organizations which conduct adventurous treks and travels across the country. With the knowledge of Emergency response, they are set to improve the quality of its operations and provide unmatched safety to its customers, says one of the trainers from VMEDO.

After undergoing the training Lakshmish Gowda, a trek leader at Karnataka Hikes said, “We used to have so many myths regarding first aid and emergency response, but now with this training we have gained the confidence to handle any medical emergency”.
