Pune, April 24: In its endeavor to serve the needy with compassion and care Shree Mahavir Jain Hospital in association with JITO (Jain International Trade Organization) Thane Chapter will conduct free Cataract Surgeries for 108 patients on a first come first serve basis. The surgeries will be conducted on April 25^th 2021 on the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. The Cataract surgeries will be performed at Shree Mahavir Jain Hospital, and the JITO Thane chapter will bear all the costs of the procedures.

Announcing the initiative Dr. Sunil Katkade, Chief Medical Director & Advisor, Shree Mahavir Jain Hospital says, Cataract is one of the common leading causes of blindness wherein the natural lens becomes cloudy and needs replacement. While surgery is the most effective method to heal cataract but high cost to access quality medical service proves to be a major hindrance. Now on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, we are pleased to embark on a noble initiative to provide free cataract surgeries to needy patients. JITO Mumbai Zone & Thane Chapter believe that access to affordable healthcare is a basic necessity.

‘Dil Aapka, Khayal Humara’ is an initiative towards making healthcare affordable whereby JITO Mumbai Zone & Thane Chapter have offered special rates for cardiac surgeries by bearing partial costs of the surgeries. The initiative was launched at Shree Mahavir Jain Hospital on 3rd January 2021 and aims to undertake 108 Cardiac Surgeries on first come first serve basis. The initiative includes Bypass surgery, Angioplasty, and Angiography. All surgeries will be performed by experts and experienced cardiac surgeons of SMJH Hospital.

While launching the initiative Mr. Mahendra Jain, Chairman, JITO Thane Chapter said, “Increasing competition, stress, and erratic lifestyle these days have taken a toll on our lives, putting our heart at risk.
