Increasing immunity during the times of corona virus and ensuring that people with low immunity such as the elderly are provided with basic healthcare services at home is very important. Mean while the unprecedented lockdown has set in so many mental, psychological, familial, health and economic problems.

The Novel Corona virus has wreaked havoc across the world, having declared a pandemic by the WHO. While there is fear, confusion and panic, people around the world are trying to take the right precaution. The novel-corona virus (Covid-19) has emerged as one of the biggest threats to global healthcare in modern times. With over 1.52 crores infections and death of more than 6 lakh , and affecting more than 213 countries, this is one of the biggest health crisis mankind has ever seen in modern times.

Basic healthcare services at home:

The symptoms of corona virus resemble many other respiratory ailments and flu. There is thus a lot of confusion among people on how to manage the condition, when to get tested, etc. The virus can also harm people with low immunity such as the elderly, more so if they have associated conditions like high blood pressure. Home quarantine can be of help in this regard and it is also essential for anyone who is at risk of contracting the infection. Apart from accurate information and awareness on corona virus, there is a need to ensure that people with low immunity such as the elderly are provided with basic healthcare services at home. This will ensure that they do not come into contact with those who have the infection given their susceptibility

In the wake of COVID19 crisis, which is a WHO declared pandemic, assuming global proportions, it has become all the more significant to keep a strong immune system. The corona virus seems to affect any age group. Hence, building a strong immunity would certainly help mitigate the ill effects and ensure a quicker recovery. While children and elderly people have been termed most vulnerable, it is anyone having a weak immune system, who are most susceptible to this infection.

Increasing immunity during the times of corona virus:

In a situation like this, a standardized phytochemical extract could be your best option to boost immunity. Glutathione and Vitamin C is the best available duo to fight viral attack and potent immunity boosters. There are several natural foods and herbs that help in boosting the body’s immunity and its overall recovery mechanism. In fact, gut and its microbiome are the main regulators of immunity. Herbs, significantly help enhance the count of good bacteria in the gut, thereby improving immunity and overall physiological functioning of the body .

On coping with the crisis, children were affected most. It is important that parents take cognizance of the fact that children are going through extremely trauma during the lockdown, and need to take the time and effort to explain and guide their children through with empathy and love. In a recent survey on the Family Worry Index, the highest concern across cities was that the family may contract the disease (74%), Job/business loss was the second biggest concern (68%), and delayed salary was third (62%). The survey found that the Economic Impact Worry Index was at 66%, showing that the personal worries overshadowed any other worry of the citizens.

COVID-19 patient management program is the need of the hour:

The healthcare system in India is not well equipped to handle community infection. Therefore, it becomes essential to prevent the community transmission of COVID 19 and manage maximum patients at home to relieve the burden on the healthcare system and preventing cross infections. Isolation and home treatment of the COVID comes with its own challenges and needs a different perspective of care. The traditional approach, where a person goes to a clinic, lab, or hospital, will not work in this global pandemic. Not only we have to help the patients but we also have to protect our clinicians to avoid the compounding spread of the disease, therefore, this COVID-19 patient management program is the need of the hour.

The unprecedented lockdown has set in so many mental, psychological, familial, health and economic problems, putting the people in dilemma as to how to cope with the emerging new normal since lots of the old order have taken new dimensions, which need proper strategy and counselling to adjust with.

DaytoDay health partners with heal foundation to fight Corona with free COVID-19 patient management program. The free program is all set to revolutionise home management of COVID-19 patients.

Delhi, April 7, 2020: Massachusetts, USA based DaytoDay Health has partnered with Heal Foundation to deliver first-ever home patient management program for the COVID-19 patients in India for free. The program is a comprehensive digital-first care management program that enables patients to be safely, effectively, and affordably managed at their homes. The post-diagnosis care management program for COVID-19 is applicable for patients who have either a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19, and are not critical, i.e. requiring ICU-level care.

Dr. Swadeep Srivastava, Founder, Heal Foundation, said, The healthcare system in India is not well equipped to handle community infection .Therefore, it becomes essential to prevent the community transmission of COVID 19 and manage maximum patients at home to relieve the burden on the healthcare system and preventing cross infections. Isolation and home treatment of the COVID comes with its own challenges and needs a different perspective of care. The traditional approach, where a person goes to a clinic, lab, or hospital, will not work in this global pandemic. Not only we have to help the patients but we also have to protect our clinicians to avoid the compounding spread of the disease, therefore, this COVID-19 patient management program is the need of the hour”.

Mr. Rajiv Misra, SVP India operation, DaytoDay Health, said, “Public Health England has categorised COVID-19 patients into 3 categories: Category 1 – Require immediate admission, Category 2 – Home isolation with active health monitoring, Category 3 – Home isolation with health advice. Only 5 percent of the patients fall into the first category. Remaining 95 percent can be managed from home. However, home isolation is stressful and can lead to patients not following, breaking the isolation, and seeking healthcare outside thus putting both healthcare workers and the elderly population at risk.

Mr. Prem Sharma, CEO, DaytoDay Health said, “We have joined hands with Heal Foundation for the noble cause of fighting against COVID-19. Both Heal Foundation and DaytoDay were working toward similar goals and hence we decided to join forces. People can reach us through direct websites or logon to joint website www.covidfighters.in. Our COVID-19 Care Management Program has been designed keeping our global care management program as its core.

The program can help in managing category 2 and category 3 patients effectively and play an important role in preventing community transmission of COVID-19. During these tough times, as our CSR duty, we have decided to make this program available to Indian COVID-19 patients free of cost through our software and a virtual care team, which comprises of a what we call as a dedicated ‘care coach’, a well-trained registered nurse, who serves as the single point of contact to deliver the care program, as well as clinicians and psychologists that provide guidance along the patient’s recovery journey.”

“The program has been designed with the goals to help GOI respond to the anticipated large number of COVID-19 cases who will require treatment, free-up the maximum possible inpatient capacity, support the medical staff on the frontlines and maximise their availability, reduce any source of panic or anxiety among patients and their families during the recovery process through end-to-end patient engagement; and has four components: symptom management, engaging education, psychological support, and streamlined communication”, Mr. Sharma added.
