Sports injuries are quite common and if these injuries are not treated immediately, it can ruin a sportsperson’s career. Globally, sports persons are closely monitored and work with doctors so that injuries can be prevented and also treated almost immediately.  Hence, to prevent and instantly treat sports injuries, the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (Government of Karnataka) has tied up with People Tree Hospitals by setting up the “Centre for Sports Science” at Kanteerava Stadium. This is the first-of-its kind and state-of-the-art-‘Centre for Excellence’ in Sports in India.

This centre  features  modern techniques and training modules like sports medicine and surgery, sports physiology, lung capacity assessment, sports physiotherapy, sports biomechanics, sports kinesiology, 3D movement analysis, sports rehabilitation, cryotherapy, hydrotherapy, underwater training, laser therapy, Galileo fitness training, sports nutrition, body composition analysis, sports nutrition assessment, sports psychology, yoga, meditation and injury prevention programmes.

The ‘Centre for Sports Science’ was inaugurated by Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka-Dr CN Ashwath Narayan along with a host of dignitaries and sports persons on Friday January 31st. On the occasion, Dr CN Ashwath Narayan said, “Being a doctor and sportsperson, I know how important it is to integrate medicine and sports. Today, I am happy that we have got a world class centre at Kanteerva stadium. As Kanteerava stadium is the hub of most of the sports activities (indoor and outdoor), this will cater to wide range of sports persons. In fact, the centre will cater to all kinds of sports played in the city. The location is at a vantage point so that it benefits every sportsperson.”

People Tree Hospitals CEO Dr Jothi Neeraja says, “This centre will deal with all aspects related to sportspersons. For example, many may focus only on physical injuries but we feel that treating mind is as important as treating the body. Our expert team includes globally qualified sports psychiatrists who will counsel the sportspersons as they are always under tremendous stress of performing well or facing backlash in case of a loss”.

Psychological response to injury can trigger serious mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, over eating, and substance use or abuse. Experts will take cognizance of all the aspects and help the sports persons overcome it. Centre will teach Yoga and Meditation which will help them to strengthen, calm down and boost their self-confidence.” One more area where centre  may focus in how best to exercise as there is a tendency to overdo the exercise and causing injuries. We are also extending this sports centre to even the joggers who frequent Cubbon Park in the mornings so that they can also make use of it.”says Dr Jothi Neeraja.

Shubha Sunil (CEO-GoCybex) said, “Sports players are icons for us. So, I feel it is a fantastic thought to have dedicated centre for sports persons. As sports persons represent our nation, they need to be physically, mentally and morally fit. I feel that this sports centre is a blessing for every sportsperson.”

Mr Suresh Ramaswamy (statutory auditor, People Tree Hospital) said that the sports centre was an institution of great significance. Karnataka High Court’s Senior Counsel Mr Nanaiah says that the sports persons will be greatly benefited by this centre.

Bengaluru: Though sports injuries are quite common there is no dedicated centre to treat these sports injuries. So, for the first time in the country, the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (Government of Karnataka) has set up a ‘Centre for Sports Science‘ at Kanteerva stadium, Bengaluru.

This centre will be the one stop shop for all the sport injuries and feature the latest medical equipment’s and globally qualified doctors.The inauguration is scheduled on Friday, 31st January 2020 at 1 pm in Kanteerava Stadium. Honourable chief minister, deputy chief minister and other dignitaries will be gracing the occasion.

Sports Science Centre:

First of its kind Sports Science Centre is funded by  state government and in management partnership with TMI Healthcare. SSC provides an integrated and innovative approach to sport performance. The Analyze-Apply-Optimize feature measures the previously immeasurable, trains smarter, helps recover faster, unlocks the true potential and avoids re-injury of the sportsmen.

Role of Peopletree :

The unique Peopletree and Sports Science Centre, PPP model, will coordinate and collaborate with the Department of Youth Empowerment and sports. Peopletree hospital will be in charge of operations and management of the Centre with its excellent team of sports specialists and doctors to provide with customized sports-specific treatment options for training and recovery for all sportsmen.
