It is a unique combination of technology with Ayurveda.

Watch Your Health, one of the leading tech startup companies with more than 10 lakh serviced clients served digitally across India in association with Madhavbaug, a leading chain of 255 cardiac care clinics and 2 hospitals with more than 10 lakhs clients treated over a decade, have launched a Unique New Age Phygital Healthcare platform.

Both the companies with their unique set of expertise have together created a platform for Madhavbaug to drive treatment using Watch Your Health’s digital expertise with Madhavbaug’s decade old expertise in Patient treatment. Data analysis and 120 + National and International research papers submitted to universities like Lancet form has helped in the foundation of this platform.

This platform harnesses the rich data through Machine learning which helps in identifying patients’ problems much faster, suggest the patient a program and helps the doctor track the patient much faster and take necessary action.

On this occasion, Mr. Ratheesh Nair, CEO, Watch your health said, “Our Expertise of digital journey with more than 10 Insurance companies have helped to broaden our vision, we are now advancing from user health and wellness space into patient treatment space and we hope we can influence lives and of course save lives of our fellow Indians.”

The app tracks day-to-day activities and diet intake including statistics like No. of steps, sleep duration, and No. of active hours without any input from patient and help patient with detailed analysis on his lifestyle pattern. With this the patient would know his/her adherence towards the program set by the doctor. The doctor on other hand can sit in his clinic and track patient adherence on diet, activities, medicine intake and other adherence as he has prescribed. The app also motivates patients and provide instant gratifications in form of badges and patient who is more disciplined would find his name in the wall of fame thus motivating other patients to achieve what seems unachievable.

Mr. Rohit Sane, CEO, Madhavbaug said, “Madhavbaug has already proved the humongous benefits to the Heart patients when modern technology is integrated with research based Ayurveda. If it is added with technologies like machine learning and artificial intelligence and remote patient monitoring then it can be the best tool to free India from the clutches of cardiovascular diseases”.

“As world is facing ongoing challenge of Covid-19 pandemic, we are now well versed with the fatalities affecting patients suffering from heart related problems. With use of WYH Technology, Madhavbaug can scale the outreach program and provide end to end services with much needed precision and value to the patient. Patient’s will to get better is the prime objective and we seek his commitment to our program, rest is my job. Nothing makes me happier than to see a committed patient getting better day by day. My Mission seems more worthy when I see their loved one smile when the results are achieved”, he added.

The epidemic of cardiovascular diseases has taken deep roots in India & many other developing countries. The burden of death due to coronary heart disease continues to increase & suitable preventive efforts are yet to make a significant impact. Now it is a well-known fact that coronary artery disease tends to occur earlier in life in Indians & is known to follow a malignant course. A study on projection which is based on global burden of diseases estimated that in the coming years India will have the maximum number of coronary artery disease patients in the 3rd & 4th decade of life. Apart from the life style of the modern day the atherogenic phenotype characteristic of Indians is said to be a major cause for this epidemic.

There are 3 main factors that need to be addressed are physical activity, smoking and aberrant diet. These 3 risk factors needs much emphasis. The other major risk factors like hypertension, diabetes, CDL or low density hypoprotein, truncal obesity are secondary manifestation of these defiant life styles and explains 90% of incidence of coronary artery disease worldwide.

Today the cardiovascular surgeon & the cardiologist play a major role in the treatment of coronary artery disease. The main symptom of this disease is chest pain which is central in origin & more than a pain it is a feeling of heaviness in the chest, sometimes radiating to the neck & to the left shoulder. Sometimes associated with sweating.
The cardiologists play a major role in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD). A stress test or an angiogram is the main investigative modality. The biodegradable stents are used for stenting a single or a double vessel coronary artery. Patients who are not fit for surgery with renal problems & who are on dialysis, suffering from cancer, elderly patients, severely obese patients are some of the candidates for elective stenting.

The Bypass Surgery is the definitive approach for CAD & can last for a period of 20 years. Two modalities of Bypass Surgeries are available.

On pump Bypass Surgery

Off pump Bypass Surgery.

Both these procedures are safe & can be applied to select individuals based on the nature of the CAD. In youngsters total arterial revasculanisation using internal mammary artery & radial artery, is done frequently.

Message to the common man:

Coronary artery disease is not curable but is preventable.

Timely intervention is required.

Life style alteration has to be done.

Diagnosis & treatment of Hypertension & Diabetes at an earlier age is of paramount importance.

Regular health checkup once in a year after the age of 40 year is a must.

Why young Indians are at an increased risk of heart diseases? Increased stress levels increased stress levels in this age group.

People between 24 to 27 years are also being diagnosed with heart problems and a majority of those with these conditions are men. Recent data gathered by Agatsa, India’s most agile health solutions innovator, has revealed that Indians have a higher average resting heart rate of 83 beats per minute as against the desired 72. The results of data from over 70,000 ECGs taken on Agatsa’s SanketLife device has also revealed that the younger population below 40 and 60 years had a higher hear rate than those above 60 indicating increased stress levels in this age group. Another recent study conducted on over 18,000 participants in 35 Indian cities by the Indian Heart Study also reaffirms Agatsa’s findings.[1]

Studies[2] suggest that every additional increase in the rate of heartbeat is associated with a 1% and 2% higher risk of cardiovascular disease and coronary heart disease respectively. There is thus a need to create awareness around lifestyle changes and build a strong infrastructural foundation in the healthcare segment that can address the growing problem effectively. Besides addressing the acute shortage of healthcare providers and healthcare centres, India needs to build an effective technological base that can help deliver efficient and affordable healthcare to the remotest of areas.

Neha Rastogi, Co-Founder and COO-Agatsa, says, “Cardiovascular deaths (CVDs) have emerged as a major public health problem in India, affecting people across all walks of life. Our data indicates that stress among the younger population is emerging as a major cause for heart problems and thus there is a need for immediate lifestyle changes. There is a need to raise awareness on the fact that CVDs can affect people of any age group and technology such as those that help monitor vital statistics can enable timely diagnosis and prevention.”

Adding further, Padma Shri Awardee Dr K K Aggarwal, President, Heart Care Foundation of India and Confederation of Medical Associations of Asia and Oceania, who was also a part of the study says, “Stress can lead to lowered heart rate variability which signifies a poorly-functioning heart with sympathetic predominance. People in the age group of 30 to 50 are increasingly susceptible to heart problems today given the fast-paced lifestyles and work stress. They also eat unhealthy food, smoke, drink and skip exercise, which are all behaviours linked to heart disease in the long term. There is a need to raise awareness on the impact of these habits and take timely action.”

The pattern of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) also seems to be changing across the Indian landscape with an increased prevalence in Tier 3. While heart diseases have traditionally been thought to affect those in urban settings, SanketLife data reveals a different trend. The statistics gathered show that people as young as 24 years have heart conditions and about 88.5% of those with CVDs are men. About 11% of the SanketLife users are heart patients and 42.1% of the patients also have associated comorbidities like diabetes. What is alarming is the fact that the highest percentage of people in whom CVDs were detected belong to Tier 2 and 3 cities. Only 26.15% people in Tier 1 city were diagnosed with a heart condition. The same signifies unmanaged stress and possible faulty diet with high junk food.

Agatsa’s SanketLife leverages cutting-edge technologies such as Bluetooth, Mobile Apps, Cloud, IoT, and Artificial Intelligence to capture complete medical-grade ECG data on the go. In a short span, Agatsa’s products have recorded ECG readings for over 100,000 users and have been used by more than 6,000 doctors. Going forward, Agatsa is planning to introduce a wearable device offering early detection of 17 different diseases such as diabetes, epilepsy, obesity, anxiety and nephropathy, etc.
