Importance of Water:
• Hydration: Water makes up a significant portion of our body, and staying hydrated is essential for regulating body temperature, lubricating joints, and supporting various physiological functions.
• Nutrient Transport: Water helps transport nutrients and oxygen to cells and tissues throughout the body, facilitating proper metabolism and cellular function.
• Waste Removal: Water plays a crucial role in flushing out waste products and toxins from the body through urine, sweat, and bowel movements, supporting kidney function and detoxification.
• Digestion and Absorption: Adequate water intake is necessary for proper digestion and absorption of nutrients, as it helps break down food particles and facilitates nutrient absorption in the digestive tract.
• Energy Production: Yes, Water is involved in energy metabolism processes, may be surprising but true because Water is the primary energy currency of the body.
• Brain Function: Proper hydration is essential for maintaining cognitive function, concentration, and mental clarity. Dehydration can impair cognitive performance and mood.
• Skin Health: Drinking enough water from the childhood helps to keep the skin hydrated, supple, and radiant, reducing the risk of dryness, wrinkles, and skin disorders.

How and When to Drink Water: As mentioned in the FIRST PART of this article you need to drink Water – Early morning, after you get up from bed, (without even brushing your teeth) drink 1 to 1.5 ltrs of water i.e., 5 to 6 glasses. You may wash your face thereafter.
• Thereafter, Drink Throughout the Day: It’s essential to drink water regularly throughout the day, rather than waiting until you feel thirsty. Thirst is a sign that your body is already in a state of dehydration.
• Stay Hydrated During Meals: Drink 1 glass of water 30 minutes before Lunch and Dinner and avoid excessive consumption immediately before or during meals, as it can dilute stomach acid and impair digestion.
• Sip Water Between your Meals: Drink water between meals to stay hydrated throughout the day. Carry a reusable water bottle with you to ensure easy access to water wherever you go.
• Listen to Your Body: Your Body is your Real partner so pay attention to your body’s signals for thirst and hydration. If you feel thirsty, drink water, and if you’re urinating frequently and the urine is pale yellow, it’s a sign that you’re adequately hydrated.
• Stay Hydrated During Physical Activity: Drink water before, during, and after exercise to replace fluid lost through sweating and maintain hydration levels. Adjust your water intake based on the duration and intensity of your workouts and also adjust the intake based on the seasons too.
• Consider Environmental Factors: Increase your water intake during hot weather, high altitude, or in dry indoor environments, as these conditions can increase the risk of dehydration.
• Limit Dehydrating Beverages: Limit consumption of dehydrating beverages such as caffeinated and alcoholic beverages, which can increase fluid loss and impair hydration.
By prioritizing hydration and following these guidelines for how and when to drink water, you can maintain optimal hydration levels, support overall health, and enhance your body’s performance and vitality.
Your Body is Your Real Friend so; please spread this message to your friends, relatives and Neighbours. It is a great service to the cause of humanity.

Drink six (4-6) glasses of water (1 to 1.5 liters) every day morning and avoid medicine, injections, diagnosis, doctor fees, etc. You can never believe before practicing; you can avoid all the following by doing simple Water Therapy;
Cough, Leukemia, Asthma, Pulmonary Tuberculosis, Kidney Stones, Urogenital Diseases, Hyper Acidity, Gastroenteritis, Uterus Cancer, Constipation, Diabetes, Eye Diseases, Irregular Menstruation, Breast Cancer, Laryngitis, Headache, migraine and many more.

Therapy Procedure
1. Early morning, after you get up from bed,(without even brushing your teeth) drink 1to 1.5 liters of water i.e., 5 to 6 glasses. Let us all know that ancient Indians termed this therapy as “Usha Paana Chikitsa”. You may wash your face thereafter.
2. Here it is very essential to note that nothing else, neither drinks nor solid food of any sort should be taken within 1 hour before and after drinking water and don’t do any activities for minimum 15 minutes after drinking the water in the morning.
3. It is also to be strictly observed that no alcoholic drinks should be taken the previous night.
4. If required, boiled and filtered water may be used for this purpose.
5. It is difficult to drink 1.5 liters of water at one time, but you will get used to it gradually.
6. Initially, while practicing you may drink 2-3 glasses first, increase it day by day and reach the target within 5-6 days’ time.
7. You may find the necessity to urinate 2 to 3 times within an hour, may feel like omitting, may go to natural calls 2-3 times in a day for 2-3 days, it’s a waste, it need to go and let all such things go and it will become normal after quite some time.

By Research and Experience: The following diseases are observed to be cured with this therapy within the indicated Days as below: – Constipation – 1 day – Acidity – 2 days – Diabetes – 7 days – Cancer – 4 weeks – Pulmonary TB – 3 months – BP & Hypertension – 4 weeks

Note: It is advised that persons suffering from Arthritis or Rheumatism should practice this therapy thrice a day, i.e. morning, midday and night, 1 hour before meals for one week; and twice a day subsequently until the disease disappears.

How Does Pure Water Act? Consuming ordinary drinking water by the right method purifies human body. It renders the colon more effective by forming new fresh blood, known in medical terms as “Haematopaises”. That the mucousal folds of the colon and intestines are activated by this method, is an undisputed fact, just as the theory that new fresh blood is produced by the mucousal fold.
If the colon is cleansed then the nutrients of the food taken several times a day will be absorbed and by the action of the mucosal folds they are turned into fresh blood. The blood is all important in curing ailments and restoring health and for this water should be consumed in a regular pattern.

Life is Short, Just go for it Please spread this message to your friends, relatives and neighbors. It is a great service to the cause of humanity

This helps us to move on to our next topic with basic understanding and clarity.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an essential part of complimentary treatment. It is based on ideas and theories formulated over thousands of years. Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine needles into specific sites on the body chosen according to the guiding principles of Traditional Oriental Medicine. Needles may also be used with an application of moxibustion, an herbal heat source, or sometimes, an electrical pulse is combined with the needles for increased stimulation. Depending on what way and the point where needles are inserted, natural healing takes place. It encourages recuperative power, immunity, physical and emotional health. Thus improves overall functioning and well-being of body by balancing and maintaining health in a natural way.

How does acupuncture work?

Western science posits that it triggers three primary mechanisms in the body:

Activation of opioid systems: Research has found that several types of pain-reducing opioids may be released into the central nervous system during acupuncture.

Changes in brain chemistry: Studies have shown that acupuncture may alter brain chemistry by altering the way in which neurotransmitters and neuro hormones are released. Acupuncture has also been documented to affect sensation and involuntary body functions, such as immune reactions and processes involved in regulating blood pressure, blood flow and body temperature. Modulation of subcortical structures of the brain may be an important mechanism by which acupuncture exerts its complex multisystem effects.

Changes in blood flow: Acupuncture and Oriental medicine affects the circulation of blood to the affected area, which helps to remove pain-causing chemicals and restore normal function.

Eastern approach :

The Traditional Oriental Medicine explanation of how acupuncture works is that the channels or meridians, of energy run in regular patterns throughout the body and over its surface. These energy channels flow through the body to irrigate and nourish the tissues and organs. An obstruction in the movement of the energy is like a dam that can cause obstruction in the flow of blood, bodily fluids and metabolic waste, thereby creating imbalances in the body.

Needling acupuncture points effects the meridian by releasing obstacles and regenerating a healthy flow. Since the meridians link with the organs, a treatment can therefore, also help to improve the function of the internal organs. The energy flow and biochemical balance formed by acupuncture encourages natural healing abilities and promotes physical and emotional wellbeing.

Western science has also suggested several theories for how Acupuncture works, including

conduction of electromagnetic signals,

activation of opioid systems, and

changes in brain chemistry, sensation, and involuntary bodily functions etc. (NCCAM Research Study, 2002 has thrown some light on Acupuncture.)

Can You Guarantee My Condition Will Improve with Acupuncture?

In both Eastern and Western medicine, there are no guarantees, just results. According to research and study Acupuncture treatment helps to treat many health conditions. WHO (World Health Organisation) has recognized and approved Acupuncture as one of the effective mode of treatment based on several research and results obtained.

HH Acupuncture works on the body as a whole; therefore the healing process is gradual rather than immediate. There are some cases where instant improvement is noticed by the patient after treatment.

What are the theories of how Acupuncture works?

Scientists have no comprehensive answer as to how it works. Here is a list of a few currently proposed theories:

Acupuncture raises levels of triglycerides, specific hormones, prostaglandins, white blood counts, gamma globulins, opsonins, and overall anti-body levels. This is called the “Augmentation of Immunity” Theory.

The “Endorphin” Theory states that acupuncture stimulates the secretions of endorphins in the body (specifically Enkaphalins).

The “Neurotransmitter” Theory states that certain neurotransmitter levels (such as Seratonin and Noradrenaline) are positively affected by acupuncture.

The “Circulatory” Theory holds that acupuncture has the effect of constriction or dilation of blood vessels. This may be caused by the body’s release of Vasodilaters (such as Histamine), in response to acupuncture.

“Gate” Theory states that the perception of pain is controlled by a part of the nervous system that regulates the impulse, which will later be interpreted as pain. This part of the nervous system is called the “Gate”. If the gate is hit with too many impulses, it is overwhelmed and closes, preventing the pain impulse from getting through. Acupuncture treats the smallest gates and nerve fibers which are the ones first affected.

What is an Acupuncture treatment like?

Patient may have a slight sensation similar to pinch or mosquito bite when needle is injected. Once the needles are placed there may be a slight tingling, numbness or heaviness in the area while the practitioner is stimulating the point. These are positive signs proving needles are on right acupuncture point. Usually you will be lying on a comfortable padded table or in an easy chair. Often, people become very relaxed and fall into a light sleep during the session.

Should I still take my prescribed medication while I’m having a course of acupuncture?

Yes, initially you have to continue with your prescribed medicine. The acupuncture treatment may enable you to reduce or even stop taking some forms of medication in later days of your treatment, but you should always consult your doctor regarding any change of prescription. DO NOT stop taking medication without professional guidance.

How should I prepare?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing for easy access to acupuncture points.

Don’t eat large meals just before or after your visit.

Refrain from overexertion, drugs, or alcohol for up to 6 hours after the visit.

Avoid stressful situation. Make time to relax and be sure to get plenty of rest.

Between visits, take notes of any changes that you may have experienced.

Do not take treatment immediately after taking bath, sexual activity or after exercise.

Are there risks or side effects to acupuncture?

Needle used for acupuncture is a fine, disposable, hygienic, FDA-approved medical device. Acupuncture is one of the highly safe form of physical treatment.

How deep do the needles go?

Acupuncture points are located on or close to the skin’s surface, but needles can be inserted from 1mm to few inches deep. The depth of insertion depends on the nature of the location and condition being addressed, the patients’ size, age, and constitution, as well as the acupuncturist’s style and training.

How long do I have to get acupuncture for?

Every body is different. If two people come in with a similar complaint, each will receive a different treatment plan and recommended frequency of visits. Generally, three treatment levels are used to determine the frequency and longevity of treatments: acute symptom relief, restorative care and continuing care. Know what to expect by these general stages of treatment:

Acute symptom level: an acute pain and/or another condition is interfering in your ability to function in your daily activities. The treatment plan: more frequent visits over the next few weeks or months. For example, a patient with acute back pain may have 1-2 visits each week for two to five weeks before moving to the restorative care level.

Restorative care level: acute symptoms are being addressed and treatments per week are less frequent. This level is about attempting to maintain the gains you have made and sets the foundation for a plan for to continue deeper healing.

Continuing care level: a longer-term support plan with less frequent visits, monthly or even seasonal for preventative maintenance. This aims at strengthening your body’s resistance to illness and keeping you going on your path to wellness.

How many sessions of treatment required to know the changes and what is the treatment frequency?

Many people start to see a significant difference within three to four treatments but some take longer to respond depending on the condition being treated. If no difference is felt by the end of eight to ten treatments, the diagnosis of the condition should be reconsidered and further medical investigations may be needed.

Acute injuries are treated as soon as possible and often daily at first. Chronic conditions may need repeat maintenance treatments to maintain the momentum after an initial period of frequent treatments. Post treatment exercise and discipline in diet is extremely important for continued improvement and recovery.

Generally treatments every second day (Mon, Wed and Fri) would be considered frequent treatment. Maintenance treatments could range from weekly to monthly or when symptoms begin to recur.

Can I buy an acupuncture machine for self-treatment?

It is highly recommended to avoid self-treatment, either with needles or other gadgets. Only a properly trained practitioner is qualified to objectively diagnose and administer appropriate acupuncture. Gadgets sold with manuals indicating “certain points for certain symptoms” do not use traditional acupuncture theory, and the self-treating patient can easily overlook other relevant symptoms.

Is Acupuncture painful?

Acupuncture is usually a very comfortable treatment. Needles are very fine, metallic and as thin as a hair, making them quite painless upon insertion. Everyone experiences acupuncture differently, but most feel no pain or very minimal pain as the needles are inserted.

What is Acupuncture? It is gaining popularity as a therapeutic approach wherein thin needles are delicately inserted through an individual’s skin at specific points on the body, reaching various depths.

Contrary to common belief, it surpasses a mere pain-relief technique; it is a comprehensive procedure designed to rectify energy imbalances within the body.

The acupuncture needles, hair-thin, solid, sterile, and disposable after a single use, differ significantly from the hollow hypodermic needles used for injections. The size of acupuncture needles varies depending on the treated condition.

For those apprehensive about acupuncture needles, alternative techniques are available. Individuals can witness the needles and experience a demonstration before proceeding. Non-needle therapies, such as moxibustion, cupping, acupressure, and magnet application, offer viable options.

Research indicates that acupuncture influences the activity of adenosine, an amino acid activated in the skin after an injury, effectively alleviating pain. This underscores acupuncture’s potential to relieve pain.

It achieves desired outcomes by stimulating specific points, capable of modifying biochemical and physiological disorders. Designated areas of electrical sensitivity, these acupuncture points, when stimulated by needles, activate sensory receptors. This stimulation reaches nerves that transmit impulses to the hypothalamic-pituitary system in the brain. The resulting release of neurotransmitters and endorphins, the body’s natural pain-killing hormones, has effects believed to be around 200 times more potent than morphine. Endorphins play a crucial role in the hormonal system, explaining acupuncture’s efficacy in treating various ailments such as back pain, arthritis, PMS, infertility, and more. Physiological effects encompass improved circulation, reduced inflammation, relief of muscle spasms, and an increased T-cell count, supporting the immune system.

It serves diverse purposes, addressing specific symptoms or conditions and acting preventively to enhance overall well-being. Suitable for all ages, including infants, children, and the elderly, acupuncture easily integrates with other treatment modalities, fostering a holistic approach to health. While acupuncture may lead to a reduction or cessation of certain medications, patients are advised to consult their respective doctors before making any changes to their prescriptions.

In India, acupuncturists commonly encounter pain-related conditions, but an increasing awareness of acupuncture prompts individuals to seek assistance for various ailments with favorable outcomes. These include disorders related to the eyes, ears, nose, and throat, circulatory issues, gastrointestinal disorders, and more.

Acupuncture’s versatility and compatibility with other treatments contribute to a collaborative approach to healing, considering health from multiple perspectives. Patients are encouraged to seek proper guidance before making decisions regarding changes to their medication.

Meditation Benefits as it supports healthy living. Mantras have transformative power. Billions of people have resorted to meditation to ease anxiety, negativity and depression.

Spiritually, mantra meditation intensifies concentration and mends memory and attention. Substantially, mantra meditation reduce heart rate and BP and provides relaxation, hence heals and rejuvenate. Mantra meditation boosts self-confidence and self-empowerment. It also minimise the stress and balance emotions. Spiritually, mantras are said to dissolve one’s bad karma, produce Jnana (wisdom) and are considered one of the many yogic paths towards selfrealization.

Japa is the meditative chanting of a Mantra or a godly name. It consists of the repetition of the same mantra, which can be composed of a single syllable (Om) or a string of mantric sounds (Om Namah Shivaya). As Patanjali prompts us, the yogic path is pushed by practice and dispassion, and meaningfully, the Sanskrit term for training— abhyasa—meaning “repetition”. Mantra Japa produces positive mental tracks. It is a powerful method for directing the mind and for yoking the body/mind’s understated energies in finishing the yogic path of self-transformation.

Mantras have transformative power and energy:

Mantras have transformative power. They shield the mind by calling upon and growing uplifting Energy. Billions of society from all walks of life have resorted to meditation to respite from nervousness, pessimism and dejection. “Mantra” has “man” means “mind” or “to think” & “tra” means “instrument” or “vehicle.” Thus a mantra can be defined as a “vehicle of the mind,” “thought instrument” or “that which when replicated upon brings freedom.” Mantras are measured to have distinct powers to renovate our mind, body and spirit.

Beginners have to start Japa meditation with Japamala. A Japamala or mala is a string of prayer beads usually used by many religion followers spiritually. It is typically made from 108 beads. Japamala are used for keeping count while reciting, chanting, or mentally repeating a mantra or the name or names of God.

Japamala can be composed of a different materials—wood, seeds, pearls, stones and ivory. The most widely used materials are Sandalwood, Rudraksha seeds, Tulsi seeds (holy basil), Lotus seeds (Kamalaxhi), Rosewood, Pearls and Crystal.

Accurate mode of using mala is with the right hand. Ring finger supports the mala, middle finger helps to movement of beads slowly and steadily, and thumb supports and stabilises the bead from falling down. One bead is moved with one “Nama smarana”, and this is continued for 108 beads. Sumeru, or Guru Bead is the 109th bead. Counting always begins with a bead next to sumeru

In the Vedic tradition, if more than one mala of repetitions is to be done, one changes directions when reaching the sumeru rather than crossing it. As index finger signifies ego, it should not be used in the complete process of Japa. Once the process is complete, the Japamala should be preserved in Japa mala bag. It should be kept separately, and not to be worn frequently.

Early morning – Brahmi Muhurtha – 4.00 am to 6.00 am will be an ideal time for Japa meditation. After resting for whole night body gets rejuvenated. Fresh up and sit in comfortable position (Padmasana), in front of Isthadevatha to begin Japa meditation. Find a comfortable yet well-aligned position for meditation.

Eyes are kept open or gently closed throughout Japa meditation with a soft gaze. The breath should be slow, deep and relaxed. Keep mind focused on the mantra.

Medical benefits of Japa meditation:

To get benefits of Japa meditation, first do Pranayama – regulate the breath, and then start Japa meditation. Focus on breath, one can notice cool air while breath in and warm air while breath out.

It is scientifically proved that Chanting has Medical benefits. In 1979, A main hospital in Barcelona invited Swami Niranjanananda for help, to ease anxiety before surgery and reduced dose of anaesthetics during surgery. Swami Niranjanananda directed Japa Meditation for 20 minutes , for 25 patients before surgery, hospital authorities found surprising result – there was an increased alpha activity of brain, heart has come down, blood pressure has become normal, and anaesthetics given during surgery was only 50% of regular dose.

Till date they are directing their patients before surgery to go with Japa Meditation. They also recorded that the recovery time was reduced. During Japa Meditation medical scientists have found out formation of Nitric oxide in nose and nasal cavity, formation of colony stimulating factor and Secretion of Melatonin, Endorphins, and Vagus nerve Stimulation.

1. Nitric oxide relaxes the smooth muscles present around blood vessels; vessels are dilated and supply more oxygen and nutrients to each and every cell of the body. Hence functioning of cells improves. Cells take more oxygen and nutrition and function fully and if injured they heal well, and at the same time accumulated metabolites (Toxins) are thrown out of them.

2. Colony stimulating factor stimulates the bone marrow to yield more immunity like Neutrophils, Macrophages, Natural Killer cells, T Lymphocytes, and B Lymphocytes, to fight with disease generating organisms, cancer creating cells and ageing cells. Therefore individuals will not suffer from diseases, cancers and old age problems. He feels young and energetic.

3. Melatonin is wonderful neurotransmitter. Today collective problem is insomnia, nervousness, depression, and negative thoughts.

Depression is not just a state of mind, it is a common but serious mood disorder resulting in emotional, behavioral and health problems. Latest report says 43% of Indian population is suffering from Depression. Not all stage of depression requires treatment but often gets worse if it isn’t treated.

What is Depression?

Depression is not just a state of mind, it is a condition which is bothering huge population. Earlier more than 20% of Indian population was suffering from Depression. The pandemic of 2020 has raised the percentage rate to 43%. Not all stage of Depression requires treatment but please understand, if it is hampering your daily routine, then you should definitely consider.

Depression is more than just feeling sad. Depression is a common but serious mood disorder, characterized by prolonged feelings of sadness and loss of interest in daily activities. It causes severe symptoms that affect how you feel, think, and handle daily activities, such as sleeping, eating, or working. If these symptoms persist for a period of more than two weeks, it is considered a depressive episode.

Depression often gets worse if it isn’t treated, resulting in emotional, behavioral and health problems that affect every area of the life, some people may feel generally miserable or unhappy without really knowing why. Depression can happen at any age, but often begins in adulthood.

Causes as per Western Perspective:

Depression is caused by a combination of genetic, biological, environmental, and psychological factors.

1. Biological differences. People with depression appear to have physical changes in their brains. The significance of these changes is still uncertain.

2. Brain chemistry: Neurotransmitters are naturally occurring brain chemicals that likely play a role in depression.

3. Hormones: Changes in the body’s balance of hormones may be involved in causing or triggering depression. Hormone changes can result with pregnancy and during the weeks or months after delivery and from thyroid problems, menopause or a number of other conditions.

4. Inherited traits: Depression is more common in people whose blood relatives also have this condition.

5. Trauma or abuse at an early age, which can cause long-term changes in how the brain deals with fear and stress

6. People with some medical conditions like sleep disturbances, cancer, chronic pain etc., are likely to develop depression.

7. People who experiences anxiety is at high risk for developing depression, and vice versa. Nearly half those who are diagnosed with anxiety are also diagnosed with depression.

Symptoms

1. Sad, tearfulness, emptiness or hopelessness, guilt, self-blame, worthlessness and such negative feelings.

2. Angry outbursts, irritability or frustration

3. Loss of interest or pleasure in most or all normal activities

4. Sleep disturbances, including insomnia or sleeping too much

5. Anxiety or restlessness

6. Trouble thinking, concentrating, making decisions and remembering things

7. Frequent or recurrent thoughts of death, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts or suicide

8. Unexplained physical problems, such as back pain, headache, random pain in fingers, difficulty in opening mouth etc.

9. Fatigue and lack of energy

Acupuncture Perspective of Depression:

(Note: Non acupuncturist can skip this content but please use Acupressure points to avail health benefits)

Each person is different and DEPRESSION is also different for each individual. Be it chemical, conditional or a combination of factors, Acupuncture has its own holistic protocol for decoding the imbalances and alleviating the symptoms of depression.

Understanding that each individual is unique and so is their experience of depression; we find the pattern that shows up. Symptoms act as the guides to understand what’s going on internally. Within the scope of Acupuncture, we understand that organs have characteristics they express, and symptoms show us which organ is crying out for help, creating imbalance and disturbance within.

There are 2 Types of Depression categorized based on Deficient or Excessive nature. Lack of proper blood flow and blood deficiency can affect proper nutrient supply and the proper waste removal from brain tissues. This is basically a deficient syndrome and sadness is usually involved in such condition.

When we talk about excessive type, anger is the most prevalent emotion involved. This type is usually caused by overwork, causing adrenaline rush. The response of the nervous system and endocrine system puts excessive pressure on the Liver creating a tense environment within the body.

The emotions expressed by the patient help us to understand the organ affected as the internal organs play an important role in controlling human emotions.

Depression due to Liver:

A stressed liver leads to depression with a lack of inspiration and direction, diminished creativity and loss of insight. Patients feel trapped by insurmountable barriers. A liver in excess results in irrational behavior, while a deficient liver, leads to lack of courage and even sleep walking.

Depression due to Lungs:

Weak lungs tend to retreat to withdrawal, to a sense of raw exposure and vulnerability, extreme sensitivity to the emotions, thoughts and presence of others, and a sense of disconnection, isolation and separation from the world and society. Common system of this type of depression shows itself as constant sadness and crying.

Depression due to Spleen:

When the spleen is deficient, difficulty concentrating is a major symptom, quickly losing interest and not staying focused on the simplest of tasks. Also, there is a tendency to overeat or comfort eat, and obsess over food.

Depression due to Kidneys:

With the kidneys, there isn’t an excessive issue but there is a hot/cold issue. If the body is running hot, then there’s a lack of grounding; if it’s cold, this causes the type of depression dealing with more despair and fear. Chances of inherited depression is more in such condition.

Acupressure Points:

(Give 5-8 mins of pressure to the shown points for 3 times a day)

Home Remedies:

1. Omega-3 fatty acids are a type of fat needed for normal brain function. Our bodies cannot make omega-3 fatty acids so they must be obtained through diet. Walnuts, flax seeds, sea fish, poppy seeds are rich in Omega 3 fatty acid and good for people suffering from depression.

2. Most of the vitamin deficiencies can be fulfilled by green leafy vegetables, fruit, beans etc. Consume them in good quantity.

3. Getting enough sunlight may be effective for seasonal mood changes.

4. Food cooked with coconut oil helps in stress relief and improves body’s immunity.

5. Crush half tea spoon of poppy seeds, mix with warm milk and drink along with your dinner. This helps in brain relaxation and induces good sleep.

Diabetic foot ulcers is a serious complication of diabetes in the long term and can lead to amputation if left untreated. Out of 77 million Diabetics, 25% are expected to develop diabetic foot ulcers. Nearly 50% would require hospitalisation & a staggering 20% would undergo an amputation.

India is known as the Diabetes capital of the world. Of the estimated 77 million diabetics in the country, 25% are expected to develop diabetic foot ulcers during their lifetime. Amongst them, nearly 50% would have an infected diabetic foot ulcer which would require hospitalisation, and a staggering 20% would undergo an amputation.1

Diabetes lowers the immunity of our body to fight a variety of diseases. These diseases manifest themselves when due care is not given for the management of diabetes. One such issue is a foot ulcer. The foot is a part of the body that generally escapes regular care. When that happens, the skin and tissues of the foot start deteriorating. This deterioration may be exacerbated by an added infection setting in leading to a wound. Such wounds tend to take a long time to heal or resurface after healing, or sometimes just don’t heal at all especially in diabetics and are referred as diabetic foot ulcers.

Diabetic foot is a serious complication of diabetes in the long term and can lead to amputation if left untreated. Hence, diabetic patients should seek guidance from their doctors. Here, early diagnosis and treatment are the keys to manage diabetic foot ulcers effectively. In India, though awareness about diabetes has improved significantly in the past decade, diabetic foot ulcers still lack the required attention.

Improper foot care and poor glycaemic control are amongst the primary reasons for the development of diabetic foot ulcers. These ulcers are often difficult to heal and require long term follow up and treatment. People are unaware and very casual about foot care till it is usually too late which often leads to delay in consultation & treatment.

The World Health Organization (WHO) was established on April 7 in the year 1948. Since then, April 7 is celebrated as World Health Day and it would be nice if each person on this planet pledges to contribute towards making the world a Healthier and Happier place to live in. This day assumes greater significance since we are still coming to terms with the effects of the corona pandemic and the toll it has taken on different facets of our lives. We should be more aware and prepared for dealing with such unforeseen health setbacks in the future.

Even though 82.8 crore people are fully vaccinated in India, there is always the fear lurking of a new variants and yet another wave. According to health experts, your immunity is the only defense and remedy for diseases like corona. Since there are still restrictions on full scale outdoor activities, learning online meditation practices at home has become increasingly popular. Today, we would like to introduce to you a unique cultivation practice which is becoming very popular through online webinars and is effective in increasing immunity. Falun Dafa (or Falun Gong), is an advanced cultivation practice of mind and body.

In Falun Dafa five gentle and effective exercises are taught, but emphasis is given on cultivation of the mind or cultivation of moral character. These exercises help in opening up one’s energy channels, purifying the body, relieving stress and providing inner peace. Being a perfect practice of mind and body, people get amazing health benefits in a short span of time. Many people experience health improvements such as better sleep, less stress, increased energy, decreased irritability, improved digestion, etc. Many people have benefited from diseases like cancer, diabetes, hepatitis and heart disease. Several people have said that the practice has reduced their urge to smoke and have been able to give up tobacco and other addictions.

Effective in increasing immunity

According to research by Dr. Lili Feng, Professor of Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine, Texas, Falun Dafa is effective in increasing immunity against diseases. Dr. Lili Feng investigated the life span and function of white blood cells (neutrophils), which found that the in vitro life span of Falun Dafa practitioners was 30 times longer than in control groups and they were functioning better. It shows immunity and health benefits for some diseases. Falun Dafa was first made public in China in May 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi. Today Falun Dafa is popular among more than 100 million people in more than 90 countries. But it is unfortunate that Falun Dafa is being persecuted in China since 1999, which continues till today.

Falun Dafa was first made public in China in May 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi. But the sad fact is that in China, the birthplace of Falun Dafa, this exercise and meditation practice is being repressed by the communist regime since 1999 which continues to this day. However, the practice is popular with more than 100 million people in more than 100 countries. In India also it is being practiced in all the major cities. Many people from Mumbai’s fashion and film industry are practicing Falun Dafa. In their hectic life, they have been able to achieve the goal of physical health and mental peace through this practice. Falun Dafa has also been taught in many schools, colleges, corporate offices, NGOs, police academies and prisons across the country.

What is Photo-Bio-Modulation?

The Ability to influence cellular, body, and Brain health using Concentrated source of light. More Specifically, Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) or Cold Lasers.

How LLLT works?

In a Nutshell, Photons(particles of light Energy) are absorbed by specific light receptors in our cells ( photo-receptors), triggering chemical alterations and bio-chemical, physical and neurological benefits to the human brain and body. This is done by safely passing concentrated, high energy beam of light through the skin by sophisticated diodes; or the laser light generators.

Think of all the benefits of being out in the sun; although concentrated and without the danger of over-exposure. Low level lasers are ‘Cold’, meaning they are at a highly specific light frequency and the power that does not produce heat and cause potential harm to body tissue. This, while providing the ‘gift of life’ that light possesses for all living things on our planet.

What Does LLLT Do?

For decades, low-level lasers have been shown to have a positive impact on the following:
1. Recovery from brain injury and concussion
2. Metabolic activity and energy production within brain and body cells
3. Neuroplasticity and neurogenesis (production of new brain cells)
4. Memory, learning and mood
5. Inflammation reduction
6. Blood flow and oxygenation with tissue repair and regeneration
7. Cell signaling and communication
8. Antioxidant production and removal of waste products from cells
9. Chronic pain and lowered dependence on prescription drugs
10. Immune function

While the list of benefits continues to grow, it is important to understand that low-level lasers are extremely safe and effective for a wide variety of health conditions. *(a sampling of relevant papers and articles follows below).

Who Benefits from LLLT?

Just as the list of positive impacts with LLLT grows through mounting scientific evidence; so does the list of conditions that can benefit from LLLT. Conditions including, but not limited to:

1. Traumatic brain injury, concussion and stroke
2. Cognitive impairment, dementia and Alzheimer’s
3. Mood disorders and addiction
4. Disorders of development, learning and behavior (including ADHD and autism)
5. PTSD and SAD
6. Neurodegenerative diseases (i.e. Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, etc.)
7. Insomnia
8. Tinnitus
9. Head and face pain
10. Pain syndromes requiring opiate or other pain medication interventions

Of extremely important note is the increasing number of athletes, scholars, and other individuals utilizing LLLT for optimal (peak) performance, injury prevention, cognitive enhancement, and other pro-active brain and body health strategies.

Use of LLLT in treating Depression and Anxiety

Studies in rats and humans provide evidence that LLLT improves mood and decreases depressive symptoms. In 2009, researchers took 10 patients with a history of major depression and anxiety (including post-traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse) and applied LLLT to their foreheads for four weeks. At the end of the study, six of the 10 patients experienced a remission of their depression, and seven of the 10 patients experienced a remission of their anxiety. There were no observable side effects.

“The data supports that LLLT to the head constitutes a promising neurotherapeutic tool to modulate behaviour in a non-invasive manner.” — Dr. Julio C. Rojas, MD, PhD, University of California.

This makes sense considering that several studies show that depression is linked to abnormal blood flow in the frontal cortex of the brain, and LLLT increases blood flow and circulation. Other studies have shown that participants report a significant increase in positive emotions and a reduction in depressive symptoms for two weeks after LLLT treatment.

Sufferers of traumatic brain injury (TBI) also experience a decrease in depression, anxiety, irritability and insomnia, and an overall improvement in quality of life, because of LLLT.

LLLT in treating Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s disease, and Cognitive Impairment:

Research shows that LLLT can boost performance and improve cognitive function, including attention and memory, in elderly people, young healthy people and animals. Preliminary studies demonstrate that LLLT could slow down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease by decreasing a protein in the brain that is linked to dementia.

Downregulation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) occurs early in the progression of Alzheimer’s disease, and LLLT has been shown to prevent brain cell loss by upregulating BDNF.

“LLLT could be used as a preventive intervention in people who present risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease, mild cognitive impairment, or a history of head trauma. In such patients, LLLT could be combined with cognitive intervention approaches.” – Dr. Francisco Gonzalez-Lima, PhD, University of Austin, Texas

Researchers have also applied LLLT to middle-aged mice, and discovered that the memory and cognitive performance of the middle-aged mice improved so much that it was comparable with that of young mice. The researchers concluded that LLLT should be “applied in cases of general cognitive impairment in elderly persons”.

Several others studies have shown that LLLT significantly increases alertness, awareness and sustained attention, and improves short-term memory and reaction time. Study participants also made fewer errors during tasks and tests. Another study found that LLLT was just as effective as exercise at enhancing cognition, likely by providing neuroprotection and supporting the mitochondria.

LLLT in treating Stroke

Multiple studies show that LLLT can significantly reduce brain damage and improve recovery outcomes after a stroke. In one study, researchers applied LLLT over the entire surface of the head of stroke patients approximately 18 hours after a stroke. Five days after the stroke, they found significantly greater improvements in the LLLT-treated group. The improvements continued 90 days after the stroke. At the end of the study, 70% of the patients treated with real LLLT had a successful outcome compared with only 51% of the control subjects.

Follow up studies with over 600 stroke patients found similar beneficial results. Researchers believe an increase in the production of ATP is responsible for the improvements. Numerous studies also show that LLLT significantly reduces neurological problems and improves behaviour in rats and rabbits after stroke. It also increases the growth of new brain cells in these animals, improving their overall recovery.
